Partnership with Europoles
The company Europoles manufactures spun-concrete poles and columns. spannverbund has collaborated with Europoles in the past – we supplied them with steel shear heads (the Europilz® system) when they were required for spun-concrete columns with punching problems.
spannverbund and Europoles recently teamed up again to work on columns. Under this new partnership, the two companies have launched the C140-Diamond column, a high-quality spun-concrete column made from ultra-high-strength concrete in qualities up to C140, which has a higher load capacity than existing concrete columns of the same diameter. The outstanding characteristics of this column make it a perfect addition to the spannverbund product range.
So what does this mean for designers? If you prize both high-quality steel finishes and fair-faced concrete finishes, the C140-Diamond column with a concrete surface is now available from spannverbund – giving you a choice of two high-tech column options from a single source, covering the entire spectrum of construction. These can be combined to good effect is high-rise projects with column diameters of approximately 35 cm or more, using Geilinger® columns for heavy load bearing on the lower floors and spun-concrete columns in the upper floors – to give just one example. What’s more, structural engineers can count on us to provide the necessary structures for the transition between the two systems – another advantage of obtaining solutions from a single source. Being at the forefront of structural design, we are ideally placed to help you select the most suitable column system for your project. We compare the costs and benefits of different column systems and their connections to pinpoint the most effective solution in terms of design and implementation.
